Meet Brian Part time servo guy, student and actor.
Have you always been involved in fitness or exercise? When I was younger. I used to ride my bike everywhere, I would get bored and just ride. I also used to play Rugby League, so I would train a couple of times a week and then play on the weekends.
What brought you to Planet Fitness? From 18-30 I managed to put on around 100kgs. Last year I decided enough was enough and it was time to stop wallowing in my own self pity and fix my situation because ultimately no one would do it for me.
Did you have a goal when you first joined? My first goal was to complete a 100 day gym challenge, each day for 100 days I would come in and do something. It didn’t have to be something monumental everyday but just something. From August 25 to December 2, I trained every day and went from 188kgs to 148kgs.
Have you reached a goal or have you achieved what you originally set out to do? While I reached my 100 day goal it was only the start. The overall goal is to get down below 100kgs. So this year I have set out to do something every day of the year, the other day I weighed in at 134.95kgs that is almost 54kgs since August 25.
What was your perception of Gyms/Health clubs before you joined? Has it changed after joining Planet Fitness? When I joined the gym I was nervous because of my size. I was afraid that people would be looking at me and judging me because I was a huge guy, but my EP Ben Larner taught me just to focus on myself and not to worry about others around me, in the end everyone is there for their own reasons and no one is focusing on anyone else.
What are your fitness goals for the future? To make it through the whole year exercising every day and to get to a stage of my life where I am truly happy with how I look.
Biggest obstacles you have had to overcome on your fitness journey? My own mental obstacles, I have had my own bouts with depression and demons who tell me I’m not good enough and that I am weak. I have combated this by getting out of bed every day and doing something and my friends, Ben Larner and all the guys at Planet Fitness have been a great beacon of positivity.
Do you have sources if inspiration? If so, what are they? I have been fortunate enough to have shared my journey with so many people via Instagram and Facebook. My friends and family have been uber supportive and through my journey others that I know have started to take action with their lives as well. This inspires me to continue further and strive to do something with my life. If anyone wants to check it out my name is brian.randell.1 on Instagram.
What is your weekly fitness regime? Every day, I do cardio one day then a little bit of cardio and weights the next. I have started to add little challenges to my routine like the Merewether steps or a hike around Glenrock. But just continuing the regime of something every day.
What is your favourite quote? “Change must come from within”.

The difference for me is the amazing staff and instructors.

Meet Ashlee Full time worker.
Have you always been involved in fitness or exercise? I started playing netball at 5. I also participated in gymnastics, running, netball and touch football growing up. I’ve always loved sport! I was in the RAAF so I’ve always maintained some level of fitness.
Did you have a goal when you first joined? I wanted to try ANOTHER gym in an effort to add a few fitness classes for weekly exercise (plus hubby convinced me!).
Have you reached a goal or have you achieved what you originally set out to do? Far exceeded – I now do 1-3 group fitness classes 6 days a week. I’ve met some amazing people who have become friends in the process (staff and club members alike).
What was your perception of Gyms/Health clubs before you joined? Has it changed after joining Planet Fitness? I have donated money to so many gyms over the years and would never attend for more than a few months at most. Planet Fitness is the only gym I have continued with long term and I love it. The difference for me is the amazing staff and instructors.
What are your fitness goals for the future? To be healthier, fitter, faster and stronger.
Biggest obstacles you have had to overcome on your fitness journey? I’m lucky to have a great life with loads of support and opportunities. I rarely see obstacles to my fitness these days. Previously, the main obstacle was my thoughts and attitude.
Do you have sources if inspiration? If so, what are they? My friends and family are everything to me. I have some of the best human beings in the world in my life that I get to call friends and family. They each inspire me in their own amazing way.

David Turner

DAVID TURNER

Gosford
Meet David – David lost 20kg in 3-4 months!

What brought you to Planet Fitness? I joined Planet Fitness because of a mate and also it was value for money. I was 102kg, but I didn’t feel unfit because I lead a pretty active lifestyle.

What are the biggest obstacles you have had to overcome on your fitness journey? I had moved back home with my parents after a failed marriage and that’s when I started to put weight on from not eating right, drinking beers and working, but doing nothing. It wasn’t until my sister and others were going through some photos of the past year that I noticed that I had chunked up a bit!
That is when I thought I should do something about it. I joined the gym at Planet Fitness and changed my eating habits. The first week was hard, but after that I started to notice I was getting fitter. I started to warm up on bike before my weights workout and could only pedal 800m. Now I warm up on average of 2km and it keeps rising every month. At the end of every weights session I would normally just run 1km but now I average 4-5km.
What are your fitness goals for the future? It has actually given me the confidence to push myself and do the Bay to Bay this year from Woy Woy to Gosford. I have also noticed an improvement in my surfing and even my work as a tradie. I just also wanted to thank the staff for noticing my changes and also for the friendly smiles and help whenever I have had a question regarding machines or general fitness.
Now I’m down to 82kg I feel good and healthier than ever. I’m going to keep moving forward with my fitness and encourage others. I see and know that making lifestyle changes can help form a healthier, happier life. You can do it; it only took me 3 months!

I have never felt judged or embarrassed.
